The learning outcomes achieved depend on the length of the course.

The Learning Outcomes for the comprehensive three-day course include:

group in training
  • Understand the medical implications of coming into contact with venomous or other snakes
  • Be able to apply effective first aid for snakebite, and understand the medical management of snakebite
  • Have a basic understanding of snake biology and ecology, and know the importance and implications of temperature as it effects snakes
  • Be able to identify potential snake hazards, and have an understanding of snake hazard management in the workplace
  • Be able to effectively and safely restrain, capture and remove venomous and/or other snakes in the workplace, and in other areas
  • Outcomes as relevant to specialist courses (eg field techniques, husbandry)

The Learning Outcomes for the abbreviated one- or two-day course include:
