Husbandry of Snakes

3 days maximum 14 participants

• Similar to Working with Venomous Snakes - Introduction to Handling Course but with a greater emphasis on the husbandry of venomous snakes
• Course length is three days however an abbreviated two day course is available on request
• Ideal for anyone with a genuine interest in the safe upkeep of venomous snakes
• Topics include but are not limited to:
  • Basic needs of captive snakes
  • Hygiene
  • Feeding and other nutritional requirements
  • Veterinary considerations
  • The importance of thermoregulation
  • Legal requirements
  • Restraint of venomous snakes
  • Snake handling and health risks
  • Interpretation of snake behaviour
  • First Aid and medical management of snakebite
