3 days - maximum 14 participants

  • Similar to Working with Venomous Snakes - Introduction to Handling Course but with emphasis on field situations with venomous snakes
  • Course length is three days however an abbreviated two day course is available on request
  • Field techniques topics include but are not limited to:
    • Health aspects and snake bite first aid in the field
    • Hygiene relative to snake handling and storage
    • Locating and trapping snakes
    • Record keeping and reporting
    • Marking snakes
    • Radio-telemetry
    • Measuring and sexing snakes
    • Temporary housing and transportation of venomous snakes
    • Emergency response planning
    • Legal requirements
    • Restraint of venomous snakes
    • Interpretation of snake behaviour
    • Alternative methods of capture
